Im not sick, but im not well

so, i've been drawing the same thing for a couple of weeks now, which is heads and the neck relationship to the body. and you just get tired of drawing the same things over and over...
so that's where these guys came along

this last one is me... for some reason i think i relate to this one more than the rest. and not for physical characteristics, but more... his position, and posture.

i will never know how to format my FREAKING BLOG POST!

quickies

here's a small taste of some of the work i've been doing in clothed figure drawing. i think i'm definitely getting better with the quick sketches.

and on another note. this man is totally my idol. he was the coolest model i've seen yet. just imagine this rugged looking older man, wearing a loosly buttoned shirt, pin stripe pants and fedora. im pretty sure this is how i'll dress when im older.

anyway, got plenty of other things to post very very soon.

other things of the sketch nature

here's just some things form my sketch book.
and so... i've vowed to complete (at minimum) 1 sketch book a month... so far so good. these flower sacks are from septembers'. we had this assignment to draw these flower sacks to show volume of forms and stuff. i had fun with it.
this one is from october. the never ending quest to make girls look like girls...
not so much...
still to much man...
there's a lot of red pencil that i used that didn't transfer well with the scan.

El Ruso returns

FINALLY!

im able to upload the other two!

obviously, not as strong as the other two, at least i think so. this profile-type view is ok. im happy with it. but the last one i think i made some bad choices with the face and such.

if i remember correctly my only REAL critique was that i put too much time into the hair. i should try and make it one shape and tone, and limit too much "noise" in the hair? even though i like what i did with the hair, i can understand where that comment was coming from.

also, i should have played up the props more. or so says the instructor. but i understand that also. without those certain story telling elements it's harder to determine who this character is. so...

lesson learned.
